Copiah is one of the 82 counties in the state of Mississippi. It was created in 1823 from parts of Franklin and Hinds counties. As of the 2010 census, the population was 29,449. The county seat is Hazlehurst. Copiah in most parts is wooded minus the town arews and the fields. In Crystal Springs, there is a lake known as "Calling Panther Lake". It is known by the locals as a nice place to fish.
