Douglas is one of the 17 counties in the state of Nevada. It was created in 1861, making it one of the original 8 counties. As of the 2010 census, the population was 46,997. The county seat is Minden. The seat was originally Genoa, site of the first settlement in Nevada, which was founded in 1851 by Mormons. The county has 738 square miles of area.
