George is one of the 82 counties in the state of Mississippi. It was created in 1910 from parts of Greene and Jackson counties. As of the 2010 census, the population was 22,578. The county seat is Lucedale. The county has 484 square miles in area. It is a dry county, meaning that the sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited.
