Kent is one of the 3 counties in the state of Delaware. It was created in 1680. As of the 2010 census, the population was 162,310, up from 126,697 in 2000. The county seat is Dover, which is also the largest city and the state capital. The county has 800.12 square miles (2,072 km2) of area, of which 589.72 sq mi (1,527 km2) is dry land.
It is bordered by Sussex County, Delaware on the south, Caroline County, Maryland on the southwest, Queen Anne's County, Maryland to the west, Kent County, Maryland to the northwest, New Castle County, Delaware to the north and the Delaware Bay to the east. Sharing water boundaries to the east are Salem, Cumberland and Cape May counties, all in New Jersey.
