Miami County is one of 92 counties in the state of Indiana. The county seat of Miami County is Peru, which has around 11,000 people. The county population in the 2010 census was 36,903. The county is included in the Kokomo-Peru Combined Statistical Area, but not the Kokomo Metropolitan Area. The CSA boosts a population of 137,623 in the 2000 census.
Miami Conties has been notably loosing population along with it's county seat of Peru. Some say the people are moving away to Kokomo in Howard County, or Logansport in Cass County because of the national Grissom Air Force Base stations in Miami County, along with a prison placed in the county as well.
